Transformation

I was given a gentle reminder last week that change is beautiful. We were sitting outside enjoying our coffee and loving the warmth of the sun on our skin when a little miracle appeared. This may have happened to you many times, but for me it was a first. A tiny butterfly was fluttering around me and working very hard to get my attention. It simply would not leave my sight. It bounced around and had a flying pattern as though it were a jumping bean (up, down, up, down). This went on for about a minute. I think the little guy (or girl) tired itself out and then decided to come in for a rest. Softly, my little friend decided my knee would be a safe rest area. I thought, ‘how cool is that?’ It sat for a few seconds and then I placed my finger close to it to see what it would do. My butterfly friend made the decision to keep me company for the next few minutes.

I kid you not but this tiny creature would not leave me. It went from knee, to shoulder, to hand, to forearm, back to the air and then landed on my toe. I started to tap my foot to get it to move on, but it was determined to stay. I finally got my friend to sit on my finger. If I were Dr. Doolittle I am sure I would have heard it say, ‘Now that I got your attention Kim I want to remind you of how far I have come. A few days ago I was a hairy caterpillar. I have changed and grown into what you are looking at right now. I will spread my wings for you to show you all that I am. Now, go and spread your wings and show the world who you are. I guarantee you the transformation will be incredible.’

    Hello Edit,

Thank you for taking the time to respond and share your comments with me & other visitors to my site. The one sentence that you typed out that touched my heart is that you believe that cancer saved your life. I wrote that exact sentence in Tasting Rain and feared that because it was written from someone who did not have the disease, I would offend readers who are fighting their own personal battle.

You have just validated what the cancer experience meant to me and why I had to write it. Cancer dramatically changed my life as well. It gave me a HUGE wake up call to live and be the best that I could be. To appreciate, be grateful and thankful for everything in my life. Live each day like I would have no tomorrow. I think you know exactly what I mean and not be surprised that you feel the same way about life.

I wish you nothing but continued success in your fight and for sharing your thoughts.

    Warm breezes,
    Kim

    Hi Kim,

It’s been a long time we connected. I am just wondering how are you? I’m still hanging there :) To deal with (live with) the permanent side effect is some times a bit challenging. But it is amazing what a great opportunity (second chance) I got. I eat right, walk every day, hike 2-3 times a week, socialize and started my own business last year at age 55. Finally I do what I love and always wanted to do. I am a kitchen designer and helping people’s dream come to reality. I love to work with people, see the result in their happiness. I enjoy every day and take it as it comes.

I trust that all is good in your end.
    Please drop me a line…hugs
